Hello! I’m Stephanie.

My students know me as Ms. Adams and affectionately as “Miss Art”. I’m an Artist, Horticultural Designer, and Fine Arts instructor based in Philadelphia.

Throughout my life and career, there have been three core passions continuously propelling me forward and inspiring all areas of my work. Those three motivating passions are creating art, teaching, and travel. While I have studied Art almost my entire life, I began my Art career by attending VCU School of the Arts, a competitive arts program ranked one of the Top 5 Art & Design schools in the USA. At VCU, I received a wide breadth of Fine Arts training, including Painting, Sculpture, Ceramics, Photography, Film, Digital Media, Printmaking, Textiles, Woodworking, and Art History. I also became well-versed in the world of Modern Art museums and curated art while working for the Institute for Contemporary Art (ICA).

A core belief that informs my teaching practice is that an exceptional Art education must be interdisciplinary. Art allows me to teach about almost every subject – history, world cultures, math, sciences, and psychology. My experiences abroad enrich my instruction, as I have become well acquainted with art from all over the globe, and I can share those experiences with my students. Lastly, I prioritize student engagement with their community, and I have achieved this by involving families in community art projects, connecting my lessons with local artists, planning trips to art museums, and arranging art exhibitions where students can proudly display their work. To put it simply: to teach Art is to teach about the world and about life, and my job as an Art teacher is to give my students every opportunity to connect with their world and to grow as people.
